Another run-in with the law over pot
The rapper Rick Ross was arrested on Friday night after his performance at the 2014 SuperJam concert in Greensboro, N.C. Ross—real name William Leonard Roberts II—was taken into custody for failing to show up to a scheduled court appearance, which stemmed from the musician’s 2013 arrest in Greensboro for a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
When Ross failed to show, a warrant for his arrest was issued. Greensboro police were waiting for the rapper to finish his spot at the annual show before they placed him under arrest. “After he was done performing, we escorted him to the magistrate’s office,” Greensboro police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen told the Greensboro News and Record. Ross reportedly posted a $1,000 bail and was released.
This isn’t Ross’s first run in with the law over pot. He was first arrested for marijuana charges in Miami in 2008 (as well as for carrying a concealed firearm) and he was also charged a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge in Shreveport, La., in 2011.
