A man was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly stabbing his friend to death because he raped his younger sister, police in Nigeria said.
Lagos State Police said that the angry man stabbed his best friend to death on Friday.
Problems began when the woman, identified as Usims, told her brother that his friend raped her while she was outside shopping. The next day, when the suspect approached his friend on Price Fadina Street, they began arguing.
During the scuffle, Samuel Usims stabbed the rapist in the neck with a screwdriver. Passerby rushed the young man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In November, a man died after being stabbed by his best friend because he spoke with his wife, according to police reports in Nigeria. Ogun State Police said that 50-year-old Wasiu Yusuf, has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his best friend Adeolu Olatoye to death.
The incident occurred in Oke-Efon, Abeokuta, on Saturday night, according to police reports. The stabbing was carried out by the suspect and an accomplice identified as Mukaila. Police said that Mukaila is still on the run.
The suspect lost his temper when he saw his 32-year-old friend on his wife’s bed. That is when he decided to kill him, police said.
The victim was killed when he had gone to his friend’s house in order to invite him to his mother’s 80th birthday party. Olatoye worked as a graphic artist, and he had a child just two weeks ago.
The victim was transported to Ijaiye State Hospital, and police are awaiting an autopsy report. Akinyemi Olatoye, a brother of the victim, said he was shocked by the incident. “My brother just wanted to invite him to our mother’s birthday party,” Olatoye said.
