A man was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly killing a homeless woman, police in Virginia said.
Newport News Police said that the arrest came six months after the body of the woman was found outside an access road by an employee of the city.
29-year-old Anthony Leon Exum of Newport News, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony in connection with the death of Karrie Ann Henson.
Henson's body was found on the side of the access road off Industrial Park Drive. Police had to use the woman’s fingerprints to identify her and said that she had no home.
According to a criminal complaint, Henson suffered multiple stab wounds. Exum reportedly confessed to the murder and gave detectives details about the crime.
Exum was arrested on Thursday afternoon and was booked into jail.
