Reports have emerged during the World Cup that, despite qualifying for the Champions League and signing a new long-term deal with the Reds last season, the Uruguayan is still seeking a move away from Anfield following last year's transfer saga.
Spain is thought to be his preferred destination, with Suarez’s father-in-law reportedly claiming it is ’the right moment’ for the Uruguayan to leave the Premier League and many suggesting European champions Real Madrid could come calling.
But Perez believes Barcelona will make Suarez their top priority this summer, as Los Blancos may struggle to accommodate the Liverpool man in their squad.
“The rumours are there, Suarez seems to be a priority for Barcelona in this transfer window,” the Spanish football expert told talkSPORT.
“I think Barcelona would have more room for Suarez than at Real Madrid.
“The interest has been there from Madrid but they already have Karim Benzema, who had a great season and is having an outstanding World Cup, and they obviously have[Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Gareth] Bale - there’s no room for Suarez in that team.
“Barcelona are eager to forget about last season [where they were well beaten to the La Liga title by Atletico Madrid] and playing Suarez alongside Neymar and [Lionel] Messi in their attack would be a huge boost for the side.
“Obviously Barca would have to be prepared to pay a lot of money for Suarez, with a reported €85million release clause on his contract, but it has also been rumours that Alexis Sanchez could be involved in a deal with Liverpool.
“It would be an appealing move for Suarez as his family have connections with Barcelona, and the interest if definitely there.
