Is Criticisms Over Tiwa Savage’s ‘Wanted’ Video Justified?

For some days now, top female singer and Mavin Records first lady, Tiwa Savage-Balogun, who recently married her Manager, Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun, has been under criticism for a music video released by her, which some described as highly suggestive.

The talented singer with a beautiful voice, has taken her music career to an enviable level since making her entry into the Nigerian music industry after she returned to the country from the United Kingdom.

Reflecting on her music videos, before her marriage in 2014, Tiwa Savage has not been faced with such criticism as her latest ‘Wanted’ video, even though her ‘Kele Kele Love’ showed to some industry watchers that she could be daring.

It has been observed that since the sexy singer got married, she has been very daring and has been making the news headlines for some suggestive moves on stage and now her video.

Nollywood director, Charles Novia, while reacting to Tiwa Savage’s ‘Wanted’ video, condemned the singer for trying to copy Western culture.

But for some of her colleagues, they have found nothing wrong in Tiwa Savage’s actions. Uti Nwachukwu, Peter Okoye and others have all stood behind the singer.

Peter Okoye even posted a picture of Nicki Minaj and Beyonce showing sensitive parts of their bodies while performing and he captioned it “She gets worshiped for doing this but our own Tiwa hasn’t even come close and the hypocrisy comes flying from all corners.”

Her husband, Tee Billz, reacting to the criticisms, assured his wife that, “you don’t have anything to worry about! Remember when I told you I will make you a star? God changed it for me and made you a SUPER star, got ur back, Africanbarbie”

Meanwhile, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage’s boss, is yet to react to these criticisms.
