That is according to Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, who broke the story of United's move for the German international. "It was actually a deal that was done under David Moyes. Van
Gaal, with his Bayern Munich links, has okayed the deal and it is all going to go through," he said, speaking on The Sports Bar.Wheeler claims United are also keen to lure Arjen Robben away from Munich, but says that move will prove more difficult.
"They have made an enquiry for Robben," he added.
"Robben has history with Van Gaal. Van Gaal brought him to Bayern Munich from Madrid in 2009 and obviously now he is going to be working with him for the next few weeks [with the Netherlands, at the World Cup]. He would love to go and get Robben over as well [as Kroos].
"Whether or not Bayern would countenance selling Toni Kroos and Arjen Robben in the summer to the same club, I'm not too sure."
