Suspected Boko Haram fighters yesterday attacked Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, but details of the incident were sketchy last night.
Daily Trust gathered that the attackers stormed the town around 5.07pm and unleashed terror on residents.
Motorists conveying passengers to the town returned to Damaturu, saying they heard sounds of explosions and gunfire from there.
A resident, who escaped the attack, told Daily Trust that the attackers drove in pick-up trucks, armored tanks and motorcycles
“This attack is going to be deadly because they are well armed,” the man said.
This is the second attack in less than two weeks in Buni Yadi, coming after Boko Haram abducted a traditional ruler and a chemist in the town penultimate weekend.
Buni Yadi is the town where gunmen slaughtered dozens of male students at a school months ago.
