Arsène Wenger spent a club-record £42.5m to lure Mesut Özil from Real Madrid on the final day of last summer’s transfer window, with the Germany international’s arrival giving the club a huge boost.
And Winterburn, who won the Premier League in 1998, feels the Arsenal manager needs to strengthen “four or five positions” to have a potential title-winning side.
“A lot of people will be frustrated if we go into the last week of the transfer window and Arsène hasn’t made any major signings,” Winterburn told talkSPORT.
“A lot of people are talking about three players that would really strengthen them. Obviously they need another centre forward, if not two.
