A couple in America has been sentenced to jail for the murder of their four year old son, Ethan Stacy.
Ethan died after being tortured and maltreated by his step-dad, Nathan Sloop, and his mum, Stephanie Sloop, was an accessory to it.
4-year-old Ethan Stacy was sent from Virginia to live with his biological mother, Stephanie Sloop, and her fiancé, 35-year-old Nathan Sloop, because of a family court order. In just one week, Ethan was severely beaten, burnt and overmedicated. When Ethan died, the couple tried to conceal the
crime by defacing the body. Ethan was buried in a shallow grave near Powder Mountain in Weber County.
When Nathan was declared missing, police investigations revealed that he was killed by his step father, Nathan Sloop, with his mother making no move to stop her husband.
Nathan Sloop was sentenced to life imprisonment back in February for the 2010 murder.
After series of trails, Stephanie Sloop, 31, was sentenced on Monday, November 17, to 20 years in jail for her son's death in 2010. Stephanie sobbed in court as she pleaded guilty to murdering her son after she did nothing to stop her husband from burning, starving and beating the child beyond recognition with a hammer.
Sloop failed to stop her husband and Ethan's stepfather, Nathan Sloop, from abusing her son and didn't call for help. Ethan died from medications, aspiration pneumonia and severe burns, likely caused from hot water in a tub. It is believed that the boy was forced to eat fecal matter by his stepfather.
