8 Men Burns Mother And 3 Children Alive After Setting Wrong Home On Fire

Eight men were arrested, charged and convicted for setting a home on fire that killed a mother and her three children, prosecutors in the United kingdom said.

47-year-old Shehnila Taufiq, her 19-year-old daughter Zainab, and two sons, Bilal, 17, and Jamal, 15, died when the fire engulfed their home in Wood Hill, Leicester.

Two men, 19-year-old Kemo Porter, and 22-year-old Tristan Richards, were convicted of the murders in Nottingham Crown Court, while six others were convicted of manslaughter.

Shaun Carter, 24, Nathaniel Mullings, 19, Jackson Powell, 20, Aaron Webb, 20, Akeem Jeffers, 21, and Cairo Parker, 17, were acquitted of four counts of murder, but found guilty of manslaughter.

Dr. Muhammad Taufiq Al Sattar said that he is devastated by the loss of his family. Prosecutors said that the fire was a punishment for the fatal stabbing of Antoin Akpom, 20, but the defendants attacked the home of the Taufiqs by mistake.

Football coach Akpom had been stabbed in the back in a confrontation involving two young 19 year old men. The defendants were friends of Akpom, and hours later they arrived at the house of the Taufiqs, thinking that was the home of the 19-year-old murderer.

Hussain Hussain, 19, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Akpom.
