A British nurse who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone is now in critical condition, the hospital treating her said on Saturday, December 3.
39-year-old Pauline Cafferkey was admitted at the Royal Free Hospital in London after being diagnosed with the disease in Glasgow, Scotland.
The hospital stated on Saturday that the nurse’s condition had deteriorated in the last two days.
Cafferkey is being treated with blood plasma from an Ebola survivor and an experimental anti-viral drug.
She contracted the deadly virus while working for the charity Save the Children in Freetown and is the first person to be diagnosed with the disease on British soil.
Ebola has killed almost 8,000 people and Sierra Leone currently accounts for the most cases of the disease
