Reports say some robbers over the weekend invaded a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pillar of Fire parish in Akure, Ondo state during service, beating the presiding pastor and some members of the church.
Some properties of the church which included plastic chairs, wall clock, window glasses and electrical appliances were reportedly destroyed by the hoodlums who stormed the church in a motorcycle.
The hoodlums were said to have inflicted injuries on the head pastor identified as pastor Ajire and some members of the church.
They reportedly took the church offering for the day.
According to reports, the police are still investigating the incident which may have been sponsored by a rival pastor in one of the churches within the area.
It was gathered that by the time the Policemen arrived the scene, the hoodlums had wreaked havoc on the church, but were chased to Odopetu in Oke Aro, where some of them were apprehended.
However, the hoodlums reportedly regrouped and rescued their colleague from the custody of the police. It was during their rescue mission that a policeman was reportedly stabbed by the hoodlums.
Contacted, the police spokesperson, Wole Ogodo confirmed the incident, saying the Pastor reported the incident at the Divisional Police Station, Akure.
