The annual festival of Lagos State Lagos Countdown kicked off in grand style as Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola kicked off the flag-off ceremony and performed the ‘switching-on’ of Festival of Light as the Bar Beach area of Lagos wears new look decorated with array of light.
The festival which began skeletally since on the 7th of December will witness daily rounds of merriment and entertainment till December 31st. The daily offering will include Karaoke, DJ battle, Dance completion, all night dancing, singing competition and others.
The Managing Director of LASAA, (organiser of Lagos Countdown) Mr George Noah said, ‘If you are in Lagos, you should not miss Lagos Countdown at all. The fun is on daily, all round the clock’
Artistes lined up for performance during the festival are Omawunmi, 2face Olamide, Banky W, Daddy Showkey, Sir Shina Peters, Kcee, Wizkid and lots more., This year’s host is Gbenga Adeyinka, Fade Ogunro and Jimmy Akinsola. The final event will take place on the night of December 31st and will witness what many called record-breaking fireworks.
Sponsors include Nigerian Breweries, Zenith Bank, Dangote , Cash and Carry, Multichoice, Airtel, Techno, Mikano, ICSL and Pepsi.
In his remark during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Fashola thanked Lagosians for supporting the vision for a Lagos Countdown. He also thanked sponsors for their support all through the previous editions. The Governor used the opportunity to appreciate the LASAA team for a job well done and encourage them to keep the good youthful spirit going. He enjoined all present and other Lagosians to ensure they pick up their voters card and vote en-masse for the APC flag bearer for Lagos State Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
Earlier on, the Managing Director of LASAA, Mr. George Noah went down memory lane to describe the wonderful journey to the 3rd edition of the Lagos Countdown. He used the opportunity of the event to show gratitude to members of the State Executive Council for their unending support.
