Former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari has been nominated as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2015 elections.
Buhari now faces the challenge of choosing a running mate who will contest alongside him in the presidential elections.
Earlier reports had it that Buhari was considering the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola but concerns over a Muslim-Muslim ticket reportedly led to Fashola being ruled out.
Stakeholders in the APC are said to be conferring on the issue of Buhari’s running mate after a meeting was convened by party leader, Bola Tinubu for that purpose.
Some of the candidates allegedly being considered include the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, Former Attorney-General of Lagos, Yemi Osibajo, former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi and Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole.
The APC is expected to announce the name of Buhari’s running mate soon as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), deadline for the submission of names of vice presidential candidates expired yesterday, December 11.
