Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel admits he feels sorry for Mario Balotelli – but insists his Anfield mates all believe in him.

The misfiring Italian drew another blank on Saturday as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by Hull City, although he turned in a much improved performance compared to his midweek effort against Real Madrid, when he was ridiculed for swapping shirts with Pepe at half-time.

And Skrtel confesses he has real sympathy with his team-mate, and is desperately hoping his luck will change soon.

The big defender said: "He is working hard and showed some good moments [against Hull]. I feel sorry for him. He is working hard in training, he is working hard in the game. He just hasn't got the goals.

"We just believe in him. We will be supporting him and just hope he will start scoring goals."
