According to a source, the 32-year-old suspect on Tuesday evening kidnapped the girl from Uwherun village in Ughelli North local government area of the state and carried her on his motorcycle to his house at Unenvrhe, a neighbouring community where he allegedly defiled her.
It said the suspect after committing the crime, brought the girl back to her village and told her to take her bath in order to avoid suspicion from her parents.
Meanwhile, the victim's parents who had spent several hours looking for her, asked where she had been, she had no choice rather than open up and told her parents what the commercial motorcyclist did to her.
The angry parents and some concerned residents were said to have mobilised to storm the suspect’s house and when he got the information of their coming, he attempted to run away but unfortunately, he was stopped by some policemen.
DSP Celestina Kalu, the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the arrest, disclosed that the suspect had confessed to the crime but claimed that the girl was his girlfriend, adding that he has been dating her for two years now before he decided to have canal knowledge of her.
The force spokesman added that the police is waiting for the medical report of the victim in order to ascertain what really happened.
