Earthquake In Parkistan Kills At Least Two, Injures 40

(CNN) -- At least two people were killed and more than 40 others were injured in a series of relatively minor earthquakes in southern Pakistan early Friday, the country's state-run news agency reported.

Three quakes ranging in magnitude from 4.3 to 4.6 struck a few kilometers from the city of Nawabshah -- where more than 1 million people live -- between 3:51 and 4:50 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The shaking damaged homes, causing roofs to collapse, and disrupted electricity, CNN affiliate Geo News reported.

The local government said schools and colleges in the area would close.
Earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 4 to 4.9 generally are felt by many and can upset unstable objects, but they generally don't cause major damage, the USGS says. Still, more damage can happen in poorly built structures.
